Any corded drills with constant torque at any speed ? (by Steve Parus on 1996/10/25, 4 replies)
I'm looking for a corded drill that will not bog (slow) down when it's
being run at low speeds as it meets more and more resistance drilling
into something or driving a screw deeper into wood. That is, I don't
want to have to manually keep squeezing the trigger more and more as
the screws turns in. I've been told that Panasonic cordless drills
perform this way and that no corded drills do. True ?

Why no clutch on corded drills? (by Bruce Peary Solomon on 1999/12/06, 1 reply)
Why is it that only cordless drills have a clutch? I use a corded drill
for driving screws, and for removing/installing lug nuts when I rotate the
tires on my three vehicles. I'd sure like to drive the lug nuts all the
way on, without the drill jerking my wrists when I misjudge the stop.
(And yes, I know the torque settings on a drill are inaccurate -- I use a
torque wrench for the final tightening.) ... (more)

Do any of you guys know why they don't put clutches on corded drills? It is
hard to find a cordless one without a clutch! ... (more)
drill recommendation wanted (by Sathyan Sundaram on 9 Jan 2003, 9 replies)
I am seeking recommendation for an inexpensive drill/driver (this is
my first power tool). I can spend up to US$50 (including drill,
essential bits set, that Dewalt adapter that makes screws go in
straight [DW2055, $6], tax, and shipping).

I will probably go corded as I don't need cordless (I might get a
cordless screwdriver later) and there would be too many trade offs in
this price range. ... (more)
corded drills (by Jay on 27 Feb 2003, 9 replies)
Would anyone care to enlighten me as to the pros and cons of keyed
verses keyless chucks for a 3/8" corded drill. While I'm at it, does
anyone with expertise have an opinion on P-C's 7amp drills? OK 3/8
vs. 1/2" for general purpose, probably the only corded drill I will
buy. My inclination is to buy Porter-Cable's 2610 Keyless. Thanks,
