cordless saw/drill kit for hardwood work
message from Leon on 21 Dec 2001
I personally only like to plug batteries into drills. That said, I use a
DeWalt and a Panasonic 9.6 drill and neither one has a problem with drilling
and putting screws into oak. While I own an old Ryobi AP10 planer, I doubt
that I would put thought into purchasing any of their products now.

I started the corless foray with a 12v Makita, chunked it, and the next one
I bought was an 18v DeWalt. Then I got the circular saw, the reciprocating
saw, hammer drill, and the jigsaw, and a couple of flashlights, all 18v.
Haven't had a lick of trouble in 4 years, except 1 4 year old dying battery,
and clutch adjustments on the drill.

I have noticed the newer jigsaws are coming without the front guard anymore.
After a several hard pinches on my left hand, I went to the service center and
they gave me the rails that protect the jigsaw shaft from your hand. Why they
left off the safety equipment is beyone me.

But I would recommend the circular saw, I haven't had any wood that gave me
any problems.
