experience with electric chainsaws? (by f... on 1999/11/15, 9 replies)
I'm debating getting an electric chainsaw for when I'm cutting up
firewood near the house.

How do these compare with gasoline engine powered chainsaws? Same
cutting speed?

I would not recommend an electric one. I got one, but I found that it
was not powerful enough. I finally got a gas one.

Electric Chainsaws (by Tony Manella on 26 Apr 2002, 9 replies)
Hi Group,
I was in the Home Cheapo the other day and saw they have some small electric
chainsaws for about $60. They claim they have about 3 hp and a 12" blade.

Anyone any experience of using electric chainsaws? Are they man enough to
take down a 30' leylandii ? I've discovered it would be cheaper to buy
myself an electric chainsaw and do the job myself rather than pay tree
surgeons to come and do it for me!
The individual branches shouldn't be a problem but the main trunk is
probably thicker than my waist!
